1 · Evidence notes
English sample notes: separate observed work, future intentions and missing evidence. The situation is invented for teaching.
- Mathematics student; simulated portfolio loss project.
- Tested a joint adverse scenario rather than changing each assumption separately.
- Interested in junior market-risk analysis and later model validation.
- Preparation and fallback plan: For my first role, I would favour a team where junior analysts review data, document assumptions and discuss exceptions with experienced colleagues. I plan to strengthen my preparation by reproducing a small risk calculation and recording how its conclusion changes under alternative assumptions. If a market-risk opening is unavailable, a quantitative analysis role with similar review responsibilities could be a useful route. I would need to understand its duties rather than treat every numerical job as equivalent. Before seeking validation responsibility, I want a reliable habit of checking both the calculation and the claim made from it.
- Progress check: I would use feedback on those explanations to identify where a mathematical answer has not yet become a useful account of financial risk.
- Learning gap: owned the scenario comparison. Separate sensitivities did not answer what happened under combined adverse assumptions. Needed a stronger account of dependence and an explanation a non-specialist teammate could use.
